Denmark PM tells Trump to stop threats after Greenland annexation comments
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen sharply rebuked President Trump's continued claims that the U.S. needs to take over Greenland, stating it makes absolutely no sense and that the U.S. has no right to annex any part of Denmark. The rebuke came after Trump reiterated in an interview that the U.S. absolutely needs Greenland for defense, and after a viral social media post by Katie Miller (wife of deputy chief of staff) showed Greenland draped in an American flag with the caption SOON. Greenlands PM Jens-Frederik Nielsen called the post disrespectful, saying Our country is not for sale. Norwegian FM backed Denmarks sovereignty. Danish defense intelligence had previously labeled the U.S. a security risk due to constant threats against Greenland. The confrontation heightened following the U.S. invasion of Venezuela.
