January 6 committee reveals Trump's 187 minutes of dereliction during Capitol attack

The January 6 committee's primetime hearing revealed Trump took no action to stop the Capitol attack between 1:10 p.m. (when his speech ended) and 4:17 p.m. (when he released a video). During 187 minutes of violence, Trump made no calls to DOJ, DOD, DHS, FBI, Capitol Police, or DC Mayor. Instead, Trump watched Fox News in the dining room, called Rudy Giuliani twice about continuing electoral objections, and at 2:24 p.m. tweeted attacks on Pence which intensified danger. Aides testified Trump "did not want to include any sort of mention of peace" and resisted suggestions to call for calm. General Mark Milley testified Trump did "zero" to marshal government resources while Vice President Pence directed military deployment. The hearing demonstrated Trump's willful refusal to act as Commander-in-Chief during a violent attack on Congress he had incited.
