Georgia grand jury charges Trump and 18 allies with racketeering plot to “criminally overturn” 2020 result
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis unveiled a 41-count indictment accusing Trump and 18 co-defendants — from Mark Meadows to Rudy Giuliani — of running a criminal enterprise to steal Georgia’s electoral votes through fake electors, intimidation of election workers, and breaches of voting systems. Willis said the case shows the defendants refused to ‘abide by Georgia’s legal process for election challenges’ and instead weaponized racketeering tactics to cling to power.
"The indictment alleges that rather than abide by Georgia's legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn Georgia's presidential election result." — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, Aug. 14, 2023
