Trump says war with Iran will end when ‘I feel it in my bones’
President Trump on Friday said he knows the U.S. military operation in Iran will come to an end when he can “feel it in my bones,” a remark that comes almost two weeks after joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on the Middle Eastern country began.
Trump spoke with Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on his podcast “[The Brian Kilmeade Show](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXTH0gwq2_c)” and told him, “When it’s over –– and I don’t think it’s going to be long –– when it’s over, this is going to bounce back so fast.”
“When are you going to know when it’s over?” Kilmeade asked.
“When I feel it,” Trump said. “When I feel it in my bones.”
Kilmeade asked if it would be a “joint decision” to end the war. Trump responded by giving praise to Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Dan Caine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President Vance.
“I’ve got all good people,” the president added. “We’ve got a great group.”
Trump has floated various timetables for when the operation in Iran could end. He said two days after the initial attack that the offensive could take up to “[four to five weeks](https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5763127-trump-us-military-iran-operations/)” or longer.
“This was just an excursion into something that had to be done. We’re getting very close to finishing that too,” he [said a week later](https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5775972-trump-iran-war-soon-finish/) on Monday at a House Republican retreat in Miami.
Trump also [told Axios on Wednesday](https://www.axios.com/2026/03/11/trump-iran-war-end-withdrawal) there was “[nothing left](https://thehill.com/policy/defense/5778853-trump-iran-war-bombing-targets/)” to bomb in Iran, claiming the U.S. is “way ahead of the timetable.”
“Any time I want it to end, it will end,” he told the outlet.
He later told supporters at a Kentucky rally that same day that Washington “won” in Iran and the conflict was “over.”
All of the Gulf countries [have come together](https://thehill.com/policy/international/5781601-iran-gulf-countries-conflict/) calling for an end to the conflict, with each of them having undergone some kind of retaliatory attack from Iran. The countries have shown their ire toward Iran for its attacks. However, they have not shown support for Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s launch of the joint military operation.
“The mood in the Gulf is three layers, first is rage against Iran, second is dismay with Washington, and third is profound suspicion about Israel’s regional agenda and profile,” Hussein Ibish, senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington, previously told The Hill.
“There’s a real sense that Israel is on a rampage and completely out of control and has transformed itself from a net contributor to regional stability, to being one of the main sources of instability and security,” he added.
