Donald Trump branded 'totally incoherent' during rambling speech in Ireland

Donald Trump has been dubbed "totally incoherent" after he began rambling during a speech on his first day in Ireland.
On Saturday, September 12, the 80-year-old Commander-in-Chief arrived in Dublin, where he quickly sparked backlash for saying it would be "fantastic" if Northern Ireland and the [Republic of Ireland](https://www.irishstar.com/all-about/republic-of-ireland) were to unify while sitting with Micheál Martin, Ireland's taoiseach, or prime minister. [Trump](https://www.irishstar.com/all-about/donald-trump)'s comment broke from decades of U.S. neutrality on the issue.
Later that day, he launched into a rant in front of a crowd of embassy employees and business leaders gathered at Deerfield Residence, where the U.S. ambassador lives. Several social media users couldn't help but slam the president. Trump appeared to slur his words when he remarked about the ambassador, "Everybody wants to be in Ireland. It's a really easy ambassadorship. All he has to do is play golf all day, and he's doing a great job."
He went on to discuss the "rigged" 2020 presidential election, how he characterizes tensions in Iran as a conflict, not war, and that he'd made Washington, D.C., a safe city again.
Trump added that the U.K. and Europe could learn a lot from the U.S.'s immigration policy. "We got them the hell out," he said. "I hate to see what's happening on immigration. Wow! That immigration, what you're doing to yourselves. You're just killing yourselves."
The president went on to gush about the hospitality of Irish people, which he'd heard about for years, saying, "They say you can't generalize about groups of people and countries. But you can!" While Trump celebrated the Irish people's friendliness, he also commended them for their "viciousness and toughness."
"You are some of the most vicious b-----ds I've ever seen," he said as people laughed in the crowd. "But when you want to be nice, there's nobody nicer, okay?"
Social media user Aaron Rupar shared a clip of the moment on X, writing, "'They say you can't generalize about groups of people. But you can!' -- get a load of how Trump ranted and raved for half an hour like a total lunatic during his speech in Ireland. Totally incoherent, brain flitting from topic to topic."
In the comments of Rupar's post, one person questioned, "What in the name of all that is holy is he rambling on about?" Another noted, "It was supposed to be just a few minutes talking. I switched off after 40 minutes. You could see the audience betting fidgety as well."
A third slammed, "Sorry Ireland, we know he's a national embarrassment," as a fourth raged, "I can't f---ing stand listening to this moron talk. Same s--- every f---ing time he opens his mouth."
A fifth said, "What an embarrassment this man is to the USA, everybody too scared to call him out for the garbage that comes out of his mouth." Yet another said, "Omg..he brought all his American rants to Ireland. Doesn't he realize they don't give a s---?"
Speaking about whether Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland were to unify earlier on Saturday, Trump said, "I don't want to cause any problem. I will tell you, I’d love to see it unified. It's going to happen eventually."
At Deerfield Residence, he seemed to acknowledge that his answer had landed him in hot water. Even though he reiterated that he still believed it would "be a cool thing" if Northern Ireland broke away from the U.K., he joked that half the room would clear out. "No matter how well you say it, there's no good answer," Trump said.
