Trump posts doctored photo of Obamas and Air Force One with graffiti on plane
President Donald Trump posted a doctored image of the Obamas alongside a graffiti-defaced Air Force One, months after a previous racist post showing the couple as primates was deleted following widespread backlash
President Donald Trump took to social media on Sunday to share a doctored image of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, depicted waving as they boarded an Air Force One aircraft defaced with spray-painted graffiti.
This latest post follows a previous [racist](https://www.themirror.com/all-about/racism) image shared by [the president](https://www.themirror.com/all-about/donald-trump) months ago, which portrayed the couple as primates in a jungle setting — a post that was ultimately removed following significant bipartisan condemnation.
The most recent image depicts the [Obamas](https://www.themirror.com/all-about/barack-obama) smiling and waving at the top of a stairway, beside a baby blue and white presidential aircraft covered in graffiti, including the Democrats' campaign slogan "Yes We Can," "Obama," and "BLM," short for Black Lives Matter. The post also shows graffiti in Arabic on the plane that says the phrase "alhamdulillah," which means "praise be to God" or "thank God." It comes after [Trump 'fell asleep' in a concerning moment at his own record-breaking July 4 fireworks](https://www.themirror.com/news/us-news/concerning-moment-donald-trump-falls-1921433).
The deliberate use of graffiti imagery serves as a veiled reference to crime and urban deterioration, a tactic historically employed in racist messaging targeting Black communities.
Trump has a long-standing history of launching deeply personal attacks against the Obamas, frequently resorting to inflammatory and at times racist language. His track record ranges from perpetuating the debunked conspiracy that Obama was not born in the United States, to making sweeping generalizations about majority-Black nations and sharing inflammatory content on his Truth Social platform.
The president's offensive post depicting the Obamas as primates surfaced in February, coinciding with the opening week of Black History Month. Following backlash from civil rights advocates and Republican lawmakers, the post was taken down.

Trump declined to issue an apology, with a staff member eventually taking responsibility for the posting.
The presidential aircraft has become a touchy subject after Trump last week took his maiden voyage on a new Air Force One - a modified Boeing 747-800 valued at $400 million, a gift from Qatar. The plane's iconic light blue exterior, designed to help Air Force One blend with the sky, was swapped for Trump's signature palette: a navy-blue underside accented with red and gold stripes.
Following his address on the National Mall in Washington celebrating Independence Day and America's 250th birthday on Saturday night, Trump cleared his Sunday schedule and retreated to his Virginia golf property. He's scheduled to depart Monday for Turkey to attend a summit with NATO allies.
The White House hasn't yet responded to requests for comment, nor has a spokeswoman for the Obamas.
Sunday's post follows another from last month where Trump circulated an altered photograph of Obama's new presidential library in Chicago, manipulated to show a large bag of garbage on top of the building surrounded by a wasteland. "The Obama Library ten years from now will be a 'Mecca' for those who hate America! President DJT," he posted at the time.
Trump has repeatedly slammed the Obama library in public statements, and shared the library photo twice on his social media platform.
The Air Force One picture was among several Sunday posts Trump shared on Truth Social, including an old photograph that seemed to depict Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni smiling and looking up at Trump beneath the caption "RESTRAINING ORDER NEEDED."
That could also spark fresh controversy during this week's gatherings in Turkey, as Trump had claimed that Meloni requested "over and over" for a photograph with him at the recent Group of Seven summit — implying she pleaded for such an image.
Trump's remarks led Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to scrap a planned Washington visit, while Meloni dismissed Trump's version as "completely fabricated," declaring "Italy and I never beg."
