Trump falsely claims Iran was 'right at the doorstep' of building a nuclear weapon before U.S. strikes
In his April 1 prime-time address, Trump claimed Iran was 'right at the doorstep' of building a nuclear weapon before U.S. and Israeli military intervention. The U.S. intelligence community assessed last year that Iran did not have an active nuclear weapons program and was several months away from the capability to produce a weapon if it chose to do so. This directly contradicts Trump's justification for Operation Epic Fury.
"Without our brave action, the most violent and thuggish regime on earth would be free to carry out their campaigns of terror behind a nuclear shield."
