Trump falsely claims economy is 'strongest in history' and takes credit for U.S. oil production that predates his term
During the prime-time address, Trump claimed to have turned a 'dead and crippled' economy into the 'strongest in history' and asserted the U.S. became the 'No. 1 producer of oil and gas on the planet' because of his leadership. FactCheck.org noted that U.S. economic growth in 2025 was lower than the prior year, and the U.S. had already become the world's top producer of natural gas and petroleum before his second term began--the trend started under the Obama administration and continued under Biden.
