Trump Contradicts Himself on Iran War, Says U.S. Doesn't Need Allies After Requesting Their Help

President Trump made contradictory statements about U.S. military operations against Iran and the need for allied support. After pleading with European and NATO allies to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz amid the largest oil supply disruption in history, Trump told reporters on Air Force One that "maybe we shouldn't even be there at all" because the U.S. has plenty of oil. Days later, he posted on Truth Social claiming the U.S. no longer needs assistance from allies, despite earlier calls for support. Multiple NATO countries rejected his requests to join the military campaign. Trump also criticized allies for not helping while simultaneously insisting "we don't need anybody," demonstrating inconsistent messaging on a critical national security issue during an international crisis.

"Maybe we shouldn't even be there at all because his country has plenty of oil of its own... We don't need anybody." — Remarks made to reporters aboard Air Force One after NATO allies rejected requests to join military operations in the Strait of Hormuz, followed by contradictory Truth Social posts claiming the U.S. doesn't need allied assistance despite earlier pleas for help.
