Germany, EU, and allies unanimously reject Trump's Hormuz demands: 'This is not our war, we have not started it'

In a sweeping rejection of Trump's demands for a naval coalition to secure the Strait of Hormuz, virtually every major US ally declined to participate. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated 'This is not our war. We have not started it.' EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said after a meeting of 27 member state foreign ministers that 'there is no appetite' in the EU to join Trump's coalition, declaring 'This is not Europe's war.' UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the Strait mission would not be a NATO mission and that Britain would 'not be drawn into the wider war.' Germany, Australia, Japan, Poland, Sweden, Spain, Italy, and Luxembourg all explicitly declined to send ships. France showed marginal willingness but made no commitment. China called on 'relevant parties to immediately stop military operations.' South Korea requested 'adequate deliberation time.' The unanimous allied rejection was historically unprecedented -- a sitting US president begging allies to help with a crisis of his own making and being rebuffed by every major partner.
