Mayor Frey Describes Video Showing Six Masked Agents Pummeling Pretti and Shooting Him to Death
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey addressed the fatal Border Patrol shooting of Alex Pretti, saying: 'I just saw a video of more than six masked agents pummeling one of our constituents and shooting him to death. How many more residents, how many more Americans, need to die or get badly hurt for this operation to end?' Frey announced the city is filing for a temporary restraining order to halt Operation Metro Surge. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara called for the federal agencies to operate 'with the same discipline, humanity and integrity that effective law enforcement demands.' O'Hara confirmed Pretti was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry and that his only prior law enforcement interactions were traffic tickets. The video Frey referenced shows Pretti holding his phone, not a weapon, when he was tackled and shot. This is Frey's second public condemnation of a federal killing in less than three weeks, after he called the Renee Nicole Good shooting 'bullshit' on January 7.
