Attorney General Keith Ellison called the federal occupation 'illegal and unconstitutional.' This mirrors the same tactic used after Renee Nicole Good's killing on January 7, when the FBI seized exclusive control of that investigation and cut out state authorities. The blocking of state investigators prevents independent verification of federal claims and evidence collection. DHS Secretary Noem announced that DHS would lead the investigation instead.
