Governor Walz calls shooting 'governance by reality TV,' warns 'don't believe this propaganda machine'
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz responded to the fatal ICE shooting with sharp condemnation of the Trump administration. He stated: 'We have someone dead in their car for no reason whatsoever,' calling the shooting 'totally predictable, and totally avoidable.' Walz directly linked the death to administration policy: 'We've been warning for weeks that the Trump Administration's dangerous, sensationalized operations are a threat to our public safety, that someone was going to get hurt. What we're seeing is the consequences of governance designed to generate fear, headlines and conflict. It's governing by reality TV, and today that recklessness cost someone their life.' He declared: 'From here on, I have a very simple message: We do not need any further help from the federal government. To Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, you've done enough.' Walz told Minnesotans who saw video: 'Don't believe this propaganda machine.' He activated the Emergency Operations Center, put the National Guard on ready, and deployed 85 State Patrol officers. He expressed skepticism about a fair investigation: 'It feels very, very difficult that we will get a fair outcome.'
