Democrats introduce War Powers Resolution after Trump's Venezuela invasion without congressional approval

Following Operation Absolute Resolve, Democratic lawmakers introduced a War Powers Resolution to block further military action in Venezuela without explicit congressional authorization. Senator Tim Kaine called the operation illegal and a violation of the 1973 War Powers Resolution. Senator Chris Murphy accused administration officials of having lied to our face by claiming prior briefings indicated only counter-narcotics operations, not regime change. Congresswoman Julie Johnson called it a clear violation of the Constitution and international law and an abuse of executive power. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer demanded immediate briefings and announced plans to force a vote.
