Maxwell meets with Trump's Deputy Attorney General about Epstein case

Ghislaine Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking minors for Jeffrey Epstein, met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche to discuss the Epstein case and those involved in the late sex offender's crimes. The highly unusual meeting between a convicted sex trafficker and a senior Trump administration Justice Department official raised immediate red flags. Deputy AG Blanche was a former personal attorney to Trump who had defended him in multiple criminal cases before being appointed to DOJ. The meeting's purpose and contents were not disclosed, and it came as Maxwell's lawyers had been pushing for a reduced sentence. One week after this meeting, Maxwell was transferred to a minimum-security prison—a placement almost never granted to sex offenders. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse demanded documents about both the meeting and subsequent transfer, calling it suspicious.
