Trump nominates Tulsi Gabbard, with no intelligence experience, as Director of National Intelligence
Trump selected former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to lead the nation's 18 intelligence agencies as Director of National Intelligence. Gabbard has no intelligence community experience and has been accused of parroting Russian and Syrian propaganda. She met with Syrian dictator Assad in 2017 and has pushed conspiracy theories about Ukraine, bioweapon labs, and questioned U.S. support for allies. She left the Democratic Party in 2022 and endorsed Trump.
"Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our Intelligence Community." — Official announcement, November 13, 2024
