Trump falsely calls Harris 'border czar' and accuses her of backing infanticide at first post-Biden
At his first rally after Biden's withdrawal, held July 24, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Trump repeatedly labeled Harris "border czar," saying "As border czar Kamala threw open our borders and allowed 20 million illegal aliens to stampede into our country," a claim PolitiFact rated False; Harris's actual 2021 assignment was a diplomatic "root causes" strategy addressing migration drivers in Central America, not domestic border enforcement, and the title was one Republicans applied to her rather than an official designation. He also claimed Harris "wants abortions in the eighth and ninth month of pregnancy ... even after birth — the execution of a baby," which PolitiFact also rated False. Trump had made a similar unsubstantiated "border czar" claim two days earlier, on July 23, in a campaign press call, and continued using the label through subsequent rallies and ads.
