Trump used Truth Social to announce that special counsel Jack Smith sent him a “TARGET” letter giving him four days to report to a grand jury, claiming that such notices “almost always mean an Arrest and Indictment.” That night in Cedar Rapids he told supporters, “It’s a disgrace,” continuing the fiction that federal prosecutors are persecuting him for speech even as they examine his attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
