Departs Washington before inauguration: "We will be back in some form"
Breaking with 152 years of tradition, Trump refused to attend Joe Biden's inauguration. He held a farewell rally at Joint Base Andrews with a 21-gun salute, telling a small crowd, "Have a good life. We will see you soon," and promising, "We will be back in some form." He then boarded Air Force One for Florida, leaving D.C. before his successor took the oath.
