Dismisses U.S. troops' traumatic brain injuries from Iran strike as 'headaches'

Asked at the World Economic Forum in Davos about American service members being treated for concussion symptoms after Iran's January 8 missile strike on the Al Asad airbase, Trump said he had 'heard that they had headaches' and that the injuries were 'not very serious.' He added that he did not consider them serious 'relative to other injuries' he had seen. At the time the Pentagon had disclosed several affected troops; the figure ultimately rose to more than 100 diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, with dozens awarded Purple Hearts. The Veterans of Foreign Wars demanded an apology, saying his comments minimized a serious combat injury.
