Smears Christianity Today as "far left" after it calls for his removal

After the evangelical magazine Christianity Today published an editorial saying Trump should be removed from office over impeachment, Trump lashed out on Twitter, calling the publication a "far left magazine" and suggesting it preferred a "Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns" to be president. He dismissed the magazine founded by Billy Graham as having been "doing poorly" and claimed no president had done more for evangelicals than he had. The attack showed his readiness to vilify even long-standing conservative religious institutions as enemies once they questioned his moral fitness and used caricatures of the "radical left" to keep his base in line.

"A far left magazine, or very "progressive," as some would call it, which has been doing poorly...would rather have a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion & your guns, than Donald Trump as your President." — December 20, 2019 tweets attacking Christianity Today after its editorial calling for Trump's removal
