Trump falsely claims Biden pushed Ukraine to fire prosecutor to protect his son

In a Fox News interview, President Donald Trump claimed that Joe Biden, as Vice President, pressured Ukraine to fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin because Shokin was investigating Hunter Biden's role at Burisma. Ukraine's then-prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko had already stated there was no evidence of wrongdoing by either Biden, and investigations confirmed the Burisma probe was dormant at the time of Shokin's removal. Fact-checkers rated the claim false. This false claim became the foundation for the Ukraine pressure campaign that led to Trump's first impeachment.
