Barr releases misleading summary of Mueller Report

Attorney General William Barr released a four-page letter to Congress claiming to summarize the "principal conclusions" of the Mueller Report, two days after receiving the 448-page report. Barr's summary claimed Mueller found no conspiracy with Russia and that Barr himself concluded there was no obstruction. Mueller later objected in writing, stating Barr's memo "did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance" of the investigation. The summary was widely criticized as an intentionally misleading effort to shape public perception in Trump's favor before the full report's release. When the full report was released on April 18, it revealed significant factual discrepancies between Barr's characterization and Mueller's actual findings.
