Threatens to cut campus research funds unless colleges police 'free speech'

During his two-hour CPAC speech, Trump said he would "very soon" sign an executive order forcing colleges to "support free speech" or lose federal research dollars, holding conservative activist Hayden Williams on stage as an example and promising to weaponize funding against universities that don't host speakers he favors.

"If they want our dollars...they've got to allow people like Hayden to speak." — CPAC speech at National Harbor, Maryland, March 2, 2019
