During a White House roundtable with California officials opposed to sanctuary laws, Trump responded to a sheriff’s comment about MS-13 by saying of some immigrants, "These aren't people. These are animals." He repeated the line the next day, using dehumanizing language to justify harsher immigration policies and stoke fear about migrants.
