Trump falsely claims U.S. has $17 billion trade deficit with Canada during tax plan speech

During a speech unveiling his tax plan, President Trump asserted that the U.S. has a $17 billion trade deficit with Canada. In reality, data from Statistics Canada and the U.S. Trade Representative's office showed the U.S. ran an overall trade surplus with Canada, not a deficit. The false claim was part of Trump's push for renegotiating NAFTA.
