After being rushed off stage in Reno, Nevada, when a crowd member shouted “gun” during a scuffle with a protester holding a “Republicans Against Trump” sign, Trump returned to say “nobody said it was going to be easy” and implied he had faced a lethal threat. His son Donald Trump Jr. and aide Dan Scavino retweeted claims calling it an “assassination attempt,” despite the Secret Service confirming no weapon was found and the protester, Austyn Crites, explaining he was merely holding a sign.
