Calls Bill Clinton–Loretta Lynch tarmac meeting “so horrible” and proof of a “rigged system”
After news broke that Bill Clinton had met privately with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a Phoenix airport tarmac while the Justice Department and FBI were still investigating Hillary Clinton’s private email server, Trump seized on the story to paint the process as corrupt. In June 30, 2016 remarks on conservative talk radio and in campaign comments, he called the meeting “so terrible” and “so horrible,” cast it as a “massive” story, and folded it into his narrative that the system was “rigged” for Clinton—floating the idea that she pushed for or benefited from the encounter and urging supporters to distrust the Justice Department’s eventual decision on her case (see 2016-04-18_to_2016-04-24 and 2016-04-25_to_2016-05-01).
"I think it’s so terrible, I think it’s so horrible." — June 30, 2016 comments to conservative radio host Mike Gallagher and other outlets about Bill Clinton’s tarmac meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch, which Trump described as “the biggest story” and folded into his claims that the system was “rigged” for Hillary Clinton.
