Joins Cruz at Capitol rally to denounce Iran nuclear deal as “disgrace” and catastrophic threat

On September 9, 2015, Trump headlined a Tea Party Patriots–backed rally on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol alongside Sen. Ted Cruz to protest the Iran nuclear deal, telling the crowd the agreement was a “disgrace,” warning of catastrophic consequences, and promising he would scrap or renegotiate it if elected. NPR, CNN, the New York Times, ABC, Bloomberg, NBC, and the Washington Post report that he cast President Obama and Democratic leaders as dangerously naïve or complicit, leaned on apocalyptic imagery about nuclear threats, and used the rally to burnish his outsider credentials while Cruz publicly embraced him as a fellow standard-bearer for the party’s hard-right base.

"This Iran deal is a disgrace. We are led by very, very stupid people—or people who don’t know what they’re doing." — Anti–Iran nuclear deal rally outside the U.S. Capitol on September 9, 2015, where Trump spoke alongside Sen. Ted Cruz to condemn the agreement and promise that he would get a “better” deal.
