Trump suddenly questions Dubai’s purpose after promoting his Nakheel tower

Asked on CNBC about Dubai’s debt crisis, Donald Trump said “A lot of people were saying, what is the purpose of Dubai, what’s the purpose of building so much?” and recalled strolling streets that were “like New York City times 10… Well, it turns out that they didn’t come,” despite spending 2008 marketing a $1.1 billion Trump Tower with Dubai developer Nakheel.
